Main Event
Matheus Nicolau knows he has to win. The Brazilian was close to a title fight, but lost to Brandon Royval last year. As a result, Nicolau has been put on hold again and must beat Alex Perez to maintain a view of being at the top of the division.
That may be even more true for Perez. The American has lost his last three matches and has not played in recent years due to injuries and health problems. Now he will have to break his bad run against Nicolau to avoid falling completely into the top 10 of the division.
Co-Main Event
The showdown against Bogdan Guskov will be an important one for Ryan Spann. Spann was given the opportunity several times by the UFC to fight someone above him in the rankings, but Spann was unable to break through.
Guskov got that chance during his first match and also failed against Volkan Oezdemir. However, the Uzbek impressed so much in his match against Zac Pauga that he is given a new chance by the UFC to enter the top 15.
