Sport: The Dutch world champion has made no secret of the fact that Miami is not his favorite circuit, but he has dominated the Formula 1 weekend in Florida so far. He won the sprint qualification, the sprint race and the qualification for the main race.
– We have improved the car, but it is difficult to achieve consistent performances here, and I am never completely comfortable in the car because it is so slippery, he said after the qualifying victory.
– But we are in pole position, and that is the most important thing.
Verstappen has started first in every race of the year so far, and he has won four of them. He had to break in Australia, but he has a clear lead in the summary. After Saturday’s sprint victory, he is 27 points ahead of Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez.
It was the two Ferrari cars that came closest to him in qualifying. Charles Leclerc was 0.141 seconds behind, Carlos Sainz 0.214 behind. The latter beat Pérez by 5/1000 of a second.
McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri start in the third row.
