Policy: The decision was made on Tuesday. Gershkovich was arrested on March 29 last year during a reporting trip to Yekaterinburg, and he has since been detained in Moscow.
He is accused of spying for the United States, which both Gershkovich and his employer, the Wall Street Journal, deny.
– Journalism is not a crime, and Evan went to Russia to do his job as a reporter. He risked his own safety to shed light on the truth about Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine, US President Joe Biden said on the one-year anniversary of his arrest.
