Economy and business: The crew of the flight, which was bound for Los Angeles with 183 people on board, declared an emergency and returned to JFK airport, Delta says.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our passengers and our people, so they used their knowledge and training and followed procedures to return to JFK,” the airline said in a statement.

Delta says it will cooperate with the Norwegian Aviation Authority’s investigation of the incident and in the search for the slide that fell off. The aircraft in question, a Boeing 767, has been taken out of service and will be carefully examined.
