Sport: He took the world record height on the first attempt after lifting the bar from six meters in the previous jump.

– He is so spunky. He flies over the list. There are no limits for that man, said NRK commentator Jann Post after the record jump.

– What is this? He jumps 6.24 in the Diamond League opener in April. He is way over. How high was this? added expert Christina Vukicevic.

It is the eighth time that Duplantis has set a pole vault world record. Everything indicates that there will be new record jumps this season. Measurements showed that Saturday’s jump would have been enough to swing above 6.29.

The next dream limit for the Swede will be 6.30.

Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen, who is the only Norwegian to have swung over six meters in history, should have participated in Xiamen. He had to retire due to injury.

Duplantis set a world record in what was only his fourth jump in Saturday’s competition. He started by taking both 5.62 and 5.82 in the first attempt. He then also made it easy at six meters.

Then the stage was set for a world record. Duplantis naturally cheered wildly after the formidable pole vault.

The Swedish-American has been a regular guest at Bislett. This year’s convention in Oslo starts already on 30 May.

The subsequent Diamond League convention in Stockholm is more important for the club king.

Duplantis now competes twice in China before the trip to the Czech Ostrava on May 28 and the Diamond League in Stockholm on June 2.

It is Norwegian Rune Stenersen who is the convention director in Xiamen, China.

Duplantis naturally came out on top in the event, which is therefore the first in the Diamond League this season.

Men’s pole vaulting is also a Diamond League exercise during this year’s Bislett Games, but the Swedish star Duplantis will not be there.
