The head of operations in the fire and rescue agency Hovedstadens Beredskab, Tim Ole Simonsen, said earlier today that they could not guarantee that the facade would hold, writes Television 2.

An attempt was made to stack containers along the building to prevent the facade from collapsing, but in the end it was not successful. The aim was to retain as much as possible of the historic brick walls in the building from the 17th century.

The fire in Børsen started at 7.30 on Tuesday morning. Shortly after 8 o’clock the building’s famous dragon spire was engulfed in flames, and half an hour later it collapsed.
