Porno for Pyros share their first new single in 26 years

Los Angeles rock band Porno for Pyros have released their first song in 26 years, ‘Agua’. The track sees the original lineup of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefano, and Martyn LeNoble turn back the clocks ahead of more new music arriving.

In a statement about the new song, Perry Farrell stated his optimism about the band: “Now we’re here, and that same heart, that same desire to make music together, has returned. Getting together with these guys has been some of the most fun, the happiest times in my life.”

‘Agua’ was inspired by the band’s encounters with dolphins when travelling the world and surfing at their peak in the 1990s. It also contains an environmental message.

In addition to the new release, the band have announced the rescheduled dates for their 2024 “farewell tour”, which they originally pushed back in October this year to allow themselves to finish their new batch of music. The new single is set to feature on a forthcoming EP, which is due to arrive before the group heads out on tour.

“We are beyond thankful for all of your support these last 30 years, and are anxious to celebrate with you. Whilst rehearsing for our first tour in 25 years, we’ve also been in the studio creating new music – that we were hoping to get to you in time for these shows,” Porno for Pyros wrote at the time of the postponement announcement.

They continued: “Unfortunately, we have had to move the dates for the upcoming tour as we were not able to begin our campaign in time. So, we’ve pushed the tour a few months from now, in order for everyone to hear and appreciate the new material that is finally finished.”
