Budget Day revolves around the speech from the throne and the presentation of the million-dollar bill and national budget, but many people are also eagerly looking forward to the royal family’s choice of clothing. We list the outfits of Máxima, Amalia, Alexia and Willem-Alexander.
Máxima wears a coat and trousers by the Dutch designer Claes Iversen, says Josine Droogendijk from Modekoningmaxima.nl to NU.nl. “We often see the queen in a classic long dress on official occasions. That is why the trousers are surprising. But whatever Máxima wears, it always feels very logical.”
Droogendijk describes it as “a modern apricot-colored set with a seventies vibe”. According to her, the queen wears a handmade and painted flower from Berry Rutjes on her head.
The clothing always forms the basis and the headgear or hair accessory is devised accordingly, says Droogendijk. “It’s a nice fitting ensemble, even though the clothing and hair accessories are from two different designers.”
Princesses ordered their dresses online
Princess Amalia has chosen a dress that is close to royal blue in color. “Amalia’s choice of clothing is less exciting than that of Máxima and Alexia. But I think it is a dress that suits her well,” says Droogendijk.
“It is not couture, so not designed especially for her. The dress is from the Safiyaa brand, which can be ordered online. Amalia’s hat comes from her mother’s closet and the same goes for the jewelry.”
Color matches the theatre
It is her first Budget Day for Princess Alexia. She is wearing a wine-red dress from the Zhivago brand with a striking cape.
“This dress is also available online and was therefore not specially made for the princess. It is a dress that costs less than 650 euros. By royal standards, that is a pittance. The cape in particular is an eye-catcher and the color matches well with the furnishings. of the Royal Theater,” says Droogendijk. Like her older sister, Alexia wears jewelry borrowed from her mother.
King Willem-Alexander wears the same thing every Budget Day: gray trousers, gray waistcoat and black morning coat. It was striking that the king wore reading glasses while reading the speech from the throne. “Now that we’ve seen him with reading glasses, I think we’ll see that more often.”
