TOWN OF ULSTER, NY — A male pedestrian who was “grazed” by a southbound CSX train Friday “in the area” of Kiefer Lane suffered only “minor injuries,” town of Ulster Police Chief Kyle Berardi said Friday.
The 23-year-old Kingston resident was using the tracks “like a thorough fare and was in the right place at the wrong time” at about 1:19 pm Friday, Nov. 17, Berardi said, adding that he was “very lucky” to survive the collision.
The victim was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital where he was treated for “minor injuries,” Berardi said.
The train was traveling at “about 55mph,” Berardi said.
Kingston police initially responded because the engine came to a stop in the city, Berardi said.
